You have a will to fight. That's a decent start. But I can tell your parameters are far from ideal. How will you compensate?

[Tokiomi's expression doesn't go unnoticed, but it's certainly of lesser importance than his words - for the moment.

True, he intended to throw his lot in with the grail, but knowing that it had somehow not acknowledged his superiority was frustrating. Small hands, now trembling, tighten around Tokiomi's.]

Oh? You believe I lack something?

Of course. No one is perfect. At the very least, you only have your own point of view. I can offer a different perspective.

In other words, the grail might as well have given me a Servant with no will to fight.

Maybe. Maybe there will be things I can do that you can't. Maybe you'll need a second pair of eyes. You won't know until it happens.

[He lets Tokiomi go - he's bored again, and in no mood to keep arguing with a clearly unworthy servant. There are other things he could be doing, so he turns towards the door with a wave of his hand]

[He shakes his hands out a bit, moving away from the magic circle. Being there makes him feel too much like he isn't human.]

Ah, I know what it means, but it's definitely strange word choice.

Well I didn't expect that every Tohsaka would be obsessed with that sort of old fashioned stuff. Guess I was wrong.

Maybe "old fashioned" works, but it makes people pretty stuffy and hard to be around!

[Harder than normal for Gil, at least. Sure, he could charm his way through any social function that demanded his presence, but it didn't make the feat any less insufferable.

But despite the comment, he parks himself against a bookcase to engage Tokiomi further. He doesn't want to argue, but it's a strange feeling, having someone who looks his age in the house -- having anyone at all in the house. Sure, there are maids and gardeners and dignitaries and couriers in and out of the estate, but they all leave in due time.

Gil had expected to summon a servant and then dismiss them -- now he's caught off guard and annoyed and intrigued by that development in equal parts]

If acting proper is hard to be around, that means you're not acting as you should yourself.

Or it could be that things change, and sometimes the people who move forward too quickly have to learn to work with those who don't.
