It was nice out. With some effort he, somehow, was able to coax Tokiomi outside for lunch. Which meant he had to have a lunch to eat. Which meant getting something -- but the lighting was nice, and he has his camera, and without thinking he neglected to buy anything more than a box of strawberry milk.
So when Tokiomi finally appears, his first instinct is to quickly snap a picture to commemorate the occasion.
His second instinct is to lower the camera, recall his apparent lunch failure, and shove the box of milk up his vest to conceal it]
[Of course. Of course Kariya has to take candid photos, as if his going outside is a momentous occasion that has to be recorded for future proof. (It kind of is.) He sighs, sitting down on the bench and holding out a packaged sandwich. He was prepared! Kariya never remembers anything important when there's something pretty to point that damned camera at instead.]
Here. You'll never grow any taller if you don't eat, you know.
[Camera still clutched in one hand, he takes the sandwich with a slightly put-upon smile...
And lets the carton of milk fall out of his vest and plop on the ground sadly. With a sigh, he retrieves the carton and plunks down a bench.]
...I'll grow taller when I want!
[He says, annoyed, though the look he shoots Tokiomi is more expectant than anything else. Time to set the camera down in his lap and unwrap that sandwich]
[Honestly Kariya, don't you know how bodies work? Tokiomi sighs, lamenting the lack of basic textbook knowledge, and opens his own lunch. He is going to sit and eat daintily and not make a mess. Like a proper gentleman.]
[Meanwhile, Kariya has arranged himself to accommodate a sandwich in one hand while he looks through the day's pictures and gets crumbs all over his lap]
Bet you have an explanation for it and everything.
[He holds up an index finger as a signal to wait while he chews - maybe that wasn't the best plan. Maybe he should have thought that one through before trying to be cute and stubborn about it.
...oh well.
Sandwich downed, he gives Tokiomi a little smile as he picks up his camera to go through the day's pictures.]
[Oh, he can wait. He'll look a touch cheeky while he's at it and pass the time by idly zooming in and out on the picture preview.
It's nice to be able to mess around with someone, he thinks, even if it's someone like Tokiomi, who's seemingly impossible to see eye to eye with. Most days he goes between odd passivity and stubborn grumpiness. Sometimes people were hard. Family doubly so... triply so... exponentially so.
