Hm... well you seem very dedicated, though we've only met. I don't know about the elegant part - what's that even mean?

[Gil smiles - he's not sure how people his age normally behave in this era, but he's of the impression that amongst them, his master must be exceptional. To be prudent, to place the needs of others about your own, to lead by example - wasn't that what he wanted to be as King?

Ah, but it's a lonely station, isn't it? His master must understand that as well, living in such a big house, speaking of family but having no one else around.

Gil knows how those things weigh; he knows that, for himself, they weighed too much, even for someone as blessed and honored as himself. In the end he let his knees buckle, and somehow (though he cannot completely recall how himself) he betrayed all the good he had wanted to be.

He knows, for now, he shouldn't trouble himself with the "why" -- what's more important is victory for his master, and to assure that, he may have to help this master shoulder these things.]

They're splendid ideals, Master -- if you speak so resolutely of them, then I'm sure you practice them just as well! As your Servant, I'll strive to do the same.

As you should be! My cooperation is not easily won.

[And goodness, this basement of yours is full of stuff; he leans over Tokiomi to peer at all the things on the desk, for starters.]

...ah, is this place your study?

[Are those gems?]

It's no wonder it's so filled with... things!

[He reaches for a book on the desk, then stops, fingers almost touching, to give Tokiomi a questioning look. He can touch this, right?]

I'll keep that in mind!

[He grabs for the book and flips through it, enthusiastic, though he pauses every once and again to watch Tokiomi. He's certain his older self saw the world after Uruk as an ugly thing, and perhaps it was in many ways -- at the same time, it's strange and exciting, and he can't bring himself to write it off entirely.]

[the book is set down so Gil can more properly eye the gems on the table - no touching, like a good boy, just peering very intently]

...you have many of those.

[This shiny thing?! For me?! Gil doesn't seem to care that it looks a little wonky; true, it's nothing compared to what he has in his treasury, but it's quaint, something from this era crafted for him.

He cups his hands around the cat, practically glowing]

Frivolous things make for the best treasures, master. Things made for making's sake are often more interesting and more precious.

[As such, that's going straight into the gate. HIS CAT NOW.]

If you demand utility, then it's a waste, that's obvious! But in exchange you've made me quite happy, so there is use in that still. We will worry about efficiency and usefulness later - for now, enjoy yourself instead.

Certainly you must. Even when tending to Uruk, time was made for pleasurable pursuits.

[bitty Gil frowns - not disapprovingly, only thoughtfully. This sort of view on life goes against his very nature, and he can't say he likes seeing his Master so troubled and confused]

...if I may, Master?
