[This is, without a doubt, the worst day of Kida Masaomi's life. From waking up nervous and worried about the situation with Mikado, he'd gone to meet Saki for lunch, which actually went well. They'd argued a little on the way back to the station about what kind of trouble he was getting in, and he'd insisted that he knew what he had to do, despite all signs pointing to it being incredibly risky. They'd decided she should just come home with him so they could talk it out, and after clearing the air with a movie, they'd gotten to Kida's temporary apartment around sunset -- and there the ambush had been waiting.
They'd hardly been inside before they were attacked, and even with Kida's skill the element of surprise took the advantage. He'd taken several people down before they got him, and once he'd been on the floor he was sure they'd beat him up and leave... but no. He wasn't so lucky. Instead he found himself pinned, a heel grinding painfully into his left hand and his head held up by fingers in his hair, in order to watch as she was beaten up instead. He'd cursed, screamed, and struggled, but in the end it was little more than amusement to the makes boys who hit her til she stopped moving, and more, until someone finally stopped.
"Oops" became the most heartbreaking thing he'd ever heard. She wasn't breathing, she wasn't anything, and he'd been hysterical and trying to murder everyone in the room by the time he was smothered with a cloth full of chloroform. He's waking up now up with his hands cuffed to a pipe high enough that when he's sitting, leaning against the wall of a small storage room in the basement of a building he knows too well, they're held above his head. His vision is swimming, and for the first moment of consciousness he thinks he wants to go back to sleep. But then he remembers, and his head jerks up with a start and a shout.]
